The Saint most invoked in my house is St. Anthony because he always comes to our aid when something is lost. St. Anthony of Padua was a poor Franciscan and a great preacher, who worked numerous miracles. One miracle is when he went on a hermitage. In the middle of the night, one of his companions saw a bright light from the tree house, where he was staying. Believing it was a fire, he burst into the room, only to see St. Anthony in ecstasy embracing the Baby Jesus.
St. Anthony had a deep trust in God and a zeal for spreading the faith. He never let any obstacle, such as hard-hearted heretics stop him from preaching the good news. He would find a way, like preaching to the fishes. As his feast day approaches, let us reflect on the ways we can use our God-given gifts to be shining witnesses to the world.
